COINS Management ToolThe COINS Management Tool is an online and stand alone application developed using web technologies and open standards. The application is based on the client server paradigm and has been implemented using only open source technology. The main goals of the application are the creation of a unified collection of coins using the information stored in legacy archives and the implementation of an efficient framework providing web users and coins experts with a complete set of tools to search and manage every detail of a big coin collection. COINS Web SpiderThe COINS Web Spider tool is a fully customizable Open Source image search engine developed to discover and identify stolen coins illegally sold on the internet. It is based on Nutch, a powerful web-search software develped by the Apache Software Foundation. The tools has been developed and tested on Linux using a Debian/Ubuntu Server distribution and is not supported on platforms other than Linux at this time.
Read the Installation and Configuration page of the COINS Spider to set up and use the tool. COINS Image Recognition ToolThe tool provides image-based classification and identification of ancient coins in images. The user is able to load an image containing a coin and match this image with database of coin images. The tool runs on Windows 98, 98 SE, 2000, ME, XP and Vista. Additionally, it needs the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Redistributable which can be downloaded from the Microsoft Download Center, http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx
COINS Shape Matching PackageThe Shape Matching Package is a set of tools created for image recognition purposes. It includes a segmentation tool, a set of commands to create databases of coin shapes and a shape matching GUI to perform coin shape matching operations. The toolset was developed under Windows XP SP2 and the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0
COINS Photoshop PluginsThe "Autodetect Scale" and the "Select Coin" plugins have been developed for Adobe® Photoshop® CS3. The plugins aim at a faster and more accurate measuring of coins through automatic scale detection by means of a ruler visible in the images and through an automatic segmentation of the coins.
COINS DemonstratorThis ISO CD Image contains all the tools and the instructions to create an integrated environment and to combine the functions of each tool for different purposes. The ISO image includes: the Spider Tool, the Image Recognition and Shape Matching Tools, the Management Tool and the additional Photoshop Plug-in. Detailed instructions are also provided to install and setup the operating system environment needed for operations. Get the ISO image of the CD-ROM containing the software and the dataset that can be used for installing the relevant demonstrator packages, as detailed in D11 – Integrated packages. The necessary instructions to create and use an integrated COINS environment are provided
