The consortium is formed by eight partners. Four of them are technological partners, with different competences: - PIN has grown a specialized expertise in the documentation of heritage assets;
- TU-Wien has substantial expertise in image recognition;
- ARC has worked long time on coins recognition;
- VARTEC is a SME that has eveloped IKEM, a web service-based knowledge management system incorporating a cross-language ontothesaurus toolkit for thesaurus and ontology management. It must be noted that the core technological grouping (PIN, TU-Wien and Vartec) stems from the NoE EPOCH on ICT applications to cultural heritage. They are already collaborating on other projects within and outside EPOCH.
Three partners are heritage stakeholders: - SAR participates with the numismatic department of the museum of Palazzo Massimo, one of the richest Italian
collections of ancient coins; - MNIR is the National Museum of Romania, also present with its numismatic department;
- The Fitzwilliam museum at Cambridge hosts important collections and within the project is the gateway to its List of Numismatic Auction Catalogues, the Sylloge of the Coins of British Islands and to the database of the Silloge Nummorum Graecorum by the British Academy.
Finally, law enforcement stakeholders are represented by - TPC Carabinieri, a special branch of this Italian police corps, world famous for its commitment and expertise to fight against cultural heritage crime.
SAR and TPC daily collaborate on illicit coin trade, while the liaisons among SAR, MNIR and the Fitzwilliam Museum derive from common research interests. PIN and SAR work together on Italian research projects.
